WHAT IS AN AGROECOLOGICAL ENTERPRISE (AEE)?

Agroecology is a sustainable approach to agriculture that promotes the production of healthy and nutritious food while regenerating soil fertility, improving biodiversity (animals, plants, and microorganisms), and strengthening the livelihood of farmers and their communities.

Agroecological Enterprises (AEEs) are businesses operating across the entire agricultural value chain that help farmers transition to agroecology and/or promote and operate in line with the 13 principles of agroecology.

Agroecological enterprises therefore have several benefits for people and the planet.

Why agroecology?

GENERATE LOCAL WEALTH

Due to more jobs, increased incomes, increased financial returns and higher tax revenue.

IMPROVE WELLBEING

Due to increased safe, healthy, local culturally adapted food, and fair employment.

HEALTHY TERRITORIAL MARKETS

Due to more successful local resilient businesses.

CIRCULAR ECONOMIES

Building resilience, improving soil health and improved biodiversity.
